The Irish Vs The British

  1. This is a complete myth. There are versions of this involving a British Lighthouse and an American Carrier. Its basically a story used to justify various xenophobic views.

  2. Yup, it's a crock... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkG_WalF7iE

In this case the video shows a ship that is far from being among the largest in any U.S. fleet... and the name USS Montana hasn't been used on a U.S. Navy vessel since 1920. But it's a good joke.

  3. Also found as warship vs rock of Gibraltar.
As fake as a fairy's fart.

  4. Up here in Canada, we often here this one but with an American warship and a Canadian lighthouse, eh.

  5. Yeah it is a myth. For a start there wasn't a British Aircraft Carrier named HMS Britannia in 1998. And is officially the name of...

    A Building!
It is a funny joke though

  6. The mispelling of "Britannia" and the lower case initial for "Atlantic" indicate a fake. A quick Google search reveals that there has never been an aircraft carrier named "Britannia".
