Are You Hungry And Not Easily Offended?

  1. Good grief, I've never had a website pinpoint so close to where I actually live!

  2. They understand we're very hungry and not prepared to wait. My journey was shortened by bypassing a road and directing me over a river, I'm not sure I can jump it.

  3. I did it again, but this time I clicked on the "Learn more" link when my Firefox asked me if I wanted to share my location. I've let other sites know it, but it's usually shows up as not even this town, but Amarillo, Hereford and even as far south as Lubbock. Most of the time it's been on food or recipe sites so they can serve up an ad with the ingredients on sale at a nearby grocery store. This showed a little cafe not too far away, one I used to frequent and had the route from my house to it...well, it WAS a block away, but still....

I then read about how they use "Location Aware Browsing" and it was an eye opener, but still a little confusing because I use a wired connection, not wireless. I'm going to read up on it some more. That's a funny website, though.

The "F" word has gone way past shocking and now is trite and overused...except when it's used in a hilarious context like this. I don't know if you ever saw the American detective series "The Wire", but it's been over with for several years and I just finished watching the entire thing a half yr. or so ago...one of the few shows I ever actually binged on, it was that good. (my first encounter with the brilliance of Idris Elba, too) Anyway...there's a scene in one of the earlier episodes where the "F" word(and variations) is the ONLY thing two detectives say while they're gathering evidence. It's about 4:45 min. long, but "effin'" funny.

    1. I fully intend to watch the Wire, that's the first I've seen any clips at all :) I buy dvds by the dozen from webuy.com, so cheap.

    2. I never had watched it, not being a fan of the genre, but it wasn't the usual police procedural drama. If I had a critique, it's that it isn't very "even" in quality, with it starting out great, tapering off, then coming back up. A British friend of mine recommended it to me and since she's seldom steered me wrong, I gave it a go. Because Elba did such a good job in it, I then watched Luther and - for the most part - enjoyed it as well. The Wire wasn't as good as The Shield, though...a show I actually DID binge watch the entire series, sometimes watching entire seasons in a day or two.

    4. The "funny" thing is I gave up my cable over a yr. ago and I've watched more TV shows since then than I ever had before. I used to leave my TV on for just background noise and sometimes I'd watch something interesting or informative, but didn't have that many weekly programs I followed. I used to work nights and sometimes evenings, so I missed out on a lot of network shows, so I never got into the habit of watching regular TV.

I can find just about any show online I care to watch, sometimes even legal! -grin- With a good antivirus and popup and ad blockers, I don't even have to worry about the virus and malware sites I sometimes stumble into when looking for a new series or movie. After I cut the cable, I bought a small Dell tablet and d/l all the programs I watch or want to try and watch them in bed. Most aren't big enough resolution to watch on my much larger TV, but they look great on the tablet's smaller screen.

The Shield is about a squad of L.A. detectives who are as crooked as a dog's hind leg. I find that premise much more interesting than the normal cop shows that investigate a crime and then have it all wrapped up in the 42 minutes of actual programming. (less adverts) I guess I prefer my heroes to be anti-heroes.
