I know I couldn't figure out how to add feeds to Feedly until I Googled it after two months, so if you can find a widget that would probably help. (Turns out you paste the site's URL into their search box.)
Heads up, this is 4 year old knowledge and is probably wrong/incomplete.
When Google Reader pulled a feed, it would pull it once for many many subscribers. To signal to your blog software or syndication service how many subscribers you had, it would send (through the HTTP user agent, I think) how many subscribers it had. Something similar to this: http://www.useragentstring.com/pages/Feed%20Readerlist/
Needless to say, Reader and Feed Burner had tight integration and understood each other. Other readers may not follow that convention right now, so 50k subscribers through Feedly might just look like 1 for now until they fix it.
That said - it might not hurt to look around at other feed services, because there's speculation that google is going to close Feedburner's doors in the future. Again, it's complete speculation. A couple of the blogs that I follow have already jumped ship.
James, I still don't understand any of it. Makes me wonder how I set it up in the first place. If I delete feedburner will it affect the feed to my Facebook page and what do I redirect it to? Yours, stupidly, Joanne.
1. Feedbuner is obsolete.
ReplyDelete2. Yes.
3. Use an other RSS reader. I use RSS Owl for example. (OSX 10.8.4)
Thank you, Dust. Always the last to find out, here.
DeleteFeedly is working just fine from my small part of the world ...
ReplyDeletePhew!
DeleteI use Feedly. IHSTWOTI rules!!
ReplyDeleteThanks :D Glad feeds still work
Deletefeedly.com is an awesome reader alternative! :)
ReplyDeleteDo I need a sidebar widget or do folk do their own thang?

DeleteI have a widget in place but not sure if it's set up correctly. The older I get, the less I understand.
DeleteI still access the blog via feedburner. of course with a different feed reader (feedly), but the feed itself is managed by feedburner.
ReplyDeleteSo, I should keep Feedburner or switch to a more current feed?
