Driving like a Madman in 1970s Paris

The film was shot in August 1976 in the early hours of the morning (5.30am) in one single take. The driver starts in a tunnel of the Paris Périphérique at Porte Dauphine, drives past monuments such as the Arc de Triomphe and Opéra Garnier and makes it all the way up to the steps of Sacré Coeur in Montmartre in time for his date who appears in the headlights. The girl was actually Claude Lelouche’s real-life girlfriend whom he’d asked to appear upon the car’s arrival.
