Eilean Donan - Loch Duich, Scotland

Located in the Highlands of Scotland, the Eilean Donan island sat abandoned until 1911, when it was restored by a prominent retired military officer.

    Eilean Donan was not "abandoned" until after it was blown up during the Jacobite rebellion. The castle has been used in several movies, among them "The Highlander" starring Sean Connery. It has a Facebook page and one can get a new photo every day once the tourist season resumes: https://www.facebook.com/Eileandonancastle1
