During my student days I had a much-loved cat who fell from the 11 th storey of a high-rise. She survived unharmed (only chipped a tooth) and lived on to be 19 years old :-)
Apparently, cats reach terminal velocity fairly soon and also position their bodies to act a bit like a parachute. This site explains how cats can survive falls from great heights:
