Horses Welcome A Newborn Foal

4 comments:

  1. Utterly cute yes! But I'd be careful allowing other horses near a foal birthing: we have twice had a foal stolen from a mare by other horses.

Once a dominant mare of mine stole the foal from an elderly mare; and a few years later a herd of five stole our newborn foal ... (see http://moretons-myth.blogspot.com.au/2010/08/horse-thieves.html)

Oh and BTW I gave the dominant mare away; and a year later she stole another newborn, unbeknownst to her owner ... and the foal died, as it bonded with her but she had no milk. (Sad face ...)

  3. Did you ever find the stolen foals?

  4. Any stolen foal should be the owners responsibility to get it back to the mare. Foal should never starve to death.
