Give A Car (UK Only)

Dogs Trust is the UK and Ireland’s largest dog welfare charity and we care for around 16,000 stray and abandoned dogs every year at our 18 rehoming centres. Most find homes quickly but those who need extra care are always safe with us because we never destroy a healthy dog. Our neutering and microchipping work helps change attitudes and encourage responsible dog ownership. It helps prevent unplanned litters saving dogs that may otherwise be put to sleep. We have Education Officers across the UK and Ireland. They deliver free workshops to help children learn about responsible dog ownership and staying safe around dogs. We run 2 specialised Outreach Projects; the Freedom Project provides a free fostering service for pets belonging to families fleeing from domestic violence. Our role is simple – to provide a temporary foster home for the dog until the escaping family can leave a refuge and get back on their feet again. Dogs Trust’s Hope Project provides free preventative and emergency veterinary care for dogs belonging to people in housing crisis or sleeping rough. Just because a dog belongs to a homeless person does not mean it doesn’t deserve the same level of care as a family pet. We also draw on our extensive experience to help dogs around the world and have developed successful ongoing welfare programmes in Romania and Ireland and in 2009 launched a new project in Malta; we’ve launched a 5 year plan dedicated to dog neutering, youth education, veterinary care and rehoming, supported by staff and volunteers of SPCA Malta.

How it works Donate your car today, and you could make a real difference to your favourite charity. 1. Contact us How Giveacar Works Fill in our form or call the office - All we need is a couple of minutes to go through your details. Once we have your approval, we have a collection agent call you in order to arrange a convenient pick-up time. 2. Your car is picked up How Giveacar Works A tow truck usually arrives within 1 to 3 days to pick up your car, though in a few rare cases it may take up to 10 days. If you have chosen to donate half the value of your scrap car, a cheque will be given to you on the day by our salvage partner. 3. Your donation is made How Giveacar Works Your car is sent to scrap or auction. We then donate all the proceeds, after administrative costs, to a charity of your choice. We send you a receipt for your donation, and so will the charity. Both of these receipts should arrive in 6 weeks. If you have chosen to donate half the value of your auction car, your receipt letter will also contain a cheque for half the donation amount. How much can I raise? Every car is different, but they all will create a valuable donation. Scrap car donations are based solely on the weight of the metal (so CD players/alloy wheels don't add to the donation). If your car is roadworthy, we may be able to raise much more by selling it at auction. We deal with hundreds of cars, so we know how to get the best value – often trade prices which are higher than private sales. But is it really worth it? YES. Every vehicle is worth something, and not just cars – we take ride-on lamwnowers, farm machinery, vans, motorbikes and lorries as well. It’s an easy way to get rid of a problem and raise money for a good cause, and at no cost to you. For examples of the good your old car could do,
